A short walk from the Lodge will take you to the view point at Symonds Yat Rock, overlooking the whole breathtaking panorama of the River Wye. The Rock offers one of the few spots in the country where Peregrine Falcons can be seen in their nest site. The RSPB man a station with binoculars for viewing the Peregrins throughout the spring and summer months.

This is birds of prey country! As well as the peregrines you will almost certainly see buzzards’ circling high in the sky uttering their plaintiff cry as well as kestrels and sparrowhawks. You may also be lucky enough to see goshawks, osprey, red kites and a variety of owls – barn owls hunt in the field behind the Lodge, so bring your binoculars!
